Cousteau's granddaughter, Alexandra Cousteau and CNN reporter, Arwa Damon call on the kind of oceans will we pass along to future generations, in the SB Oceans debate to be held at Porto Customs, between 14th and 16th November.

The event gathers renowned experts, companies' representatives and several organizations that will put on the table innovative and sustainable best practices regarding marine preservation as a whole.

Alexandra Cousteau is a filmmaker and an environmental activist, who devotes her life to continuing the work of both her grandfather, Jacques-Yves Cousteau, and father, Philippe Cousteau.

The environmental activist advocates the importance of sustainable management of oceans and water resources as they are key to the future of our planet.

The event is organised by Sustainable Brands that brings together multiple players with a direct link to the blue economy and an urgent concern to promoting a sustainable future for our oceans and rivers, all the while reversing the harmful impact of pollution and climate change on the health of our maritime resources.

SB Oceans relies on the participation of circa 90 keynote national and international speakers; experts and activists will work alongside economists, lawyers and policy experts so as to achieve tangible results for the oceans, namely focusing on the best practices to stop overfishing, reduce bycatch and protect marine habitat, for example.

CNN reporter, Arwa Damon will share her experience from battlefields to environmental struggle. Her career was mostly spent on war scenarios, in Iraqi or in Syria; however, her passion for the environment has led her from Antarctica to the Artic, with Greenpeace.

Another highlight is the Plastic Bank testimony, whose mission is to end plastic in the oceans. This project is developed in underprivileged areas in the globe, such as Haiti, where huge stretches of water are covered with plastic waste. Plastic that is recovered is exchanged by Money, goods and services.

The film "A Plastic Ocean", will be screened at the event. The movie is produced by renowned actor Leonardo Di Caprio and it has received international acclaim.

Each participant to the event is also helping clean oceans as the joint partnership Plastic Bank/SB Oceans will remove 84 kilos of plastic for each person to attend the debate.

The audience will be given a customized certificate and a link to observe the place in the world where his/her plastic amount will be removed from the water; besides, each participant will be given valuable tips on environmental best practices.

Tickets for "SB Oceans" can be purchased at the event's website.
