If you are into listening and appreciating music, know that the Municipal Vinyl Audio Room of Porto City Hall (Fonoteca Municipal de Vinil da Câmara do Porto) is set to open to the public and the inauguration is scheduled for the end of September, along with the start of the upcoming cultural season in town.

The facilities, which are part of the Plataforma Campanhã, will be a space devoted to appreciating music, audio-visual, sound and the music industry at large, featuring circa 35 thousand vinyl records that the public will have the possibility to explore. The selection can be heard with the start of the upcoming cultural season in Porto.

This large collection of phonograms in vinyl format is the result of two donations to the Municipal Sound Archive by Rádio Difusão Portuguesa and Rádio Renascença, back in 2008.

The rehabilitation and restoration of the new facilities are now concluded, as well as the entire licensing process.

Rui Moreira, Mayor of Porto and Guilherme Blanc, Director of Cinema and Contemporary Art of Ágora Porto Municipal Company, visited the Municipal Audio Room last 26th June.
