Aged between five and fifty years old, they come from all the corners of the world and gather for another edition of The World Battle, the largest urban dance competition and "the major event of its kind in Portugal", according to PortoLazer.

Hip-hop, house, footwork, toprock, powermoves, bboying 1vs1, open styles 3vs3, cypher locking, cypher popping and cypher dancehall are but some of the dance genres in the competition this year.

The qualifiers are scheduled for 3 and 4 May, at the MXM Art Center, and the finals are set to take place at the Hard Club, on 5 May.

Nevertheless, this event is so much more than moves and competition. Starting on 29 April, the programme includes exhibits, graffiti workshops, an urban market, pop-up stores, traditional games, street performances. Parties and several shows outside the competition.

The first event, themed euro battle, was organised fourteen years ago. It gained worldwide momentum about three ago due to the increasing number of participants.
