From Saturday 1 June until 15 September, Praia Internacional do Porto will once again be the stage for national beach sports competitions and events. The Porto Beach Stadium, located next to the Transparent Building, will host sports such as beach football, teqball, beach rugby and beach handball until September. The kick-off is this Saturday, with the National Footvolley Stage.

After extensive work carried out by GO Porto, with an investment of around EUR 79,000, which included the installation of switchboards and permanent lighting columns, it's no longer possible to think of summer without the Beach Stadium.

This sports centre, located on the Praia Internacional do Porto, next to the Transparent Building, will once again feature the sports that fill our hearts in times of heat, sun, sea and flip-flops. And with the works, which have applied for funds from the European Union's Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), the venue can now be used at night.

So, until 15 September, there will be plenty of reasons to visit the venue and follow some of the most important stages and competitions of the summer sports that will take place there during the different weekends of activities.

It kicks off this weekend with the National Footvolley Championship, an initiative of the National Footvolley Federation, which promises to bring many of the sport's stars to the sands of Porto.

The calendar then resumes on 15 and 16 June with beach hockey and, a week later, on 22 and 23 June, it will be the turn of the National Circuit and European Cup S-14 and S-16 beach rugby.

The June calendar doesn't end without the first stage of And'Praia, the championship of the Porto Handball Association, which runs from 27 to 30 June.

Accompanying these competitions, the Beach Stadium also has a parallel programme designed for all ages, from capoeira and fencing demonstrations to T-shirt painting and kite and windmill workshops.

Beach rugby and beach volleyball in July

In July, the sands of the Stadium will remain hot with the competitions scheduled for the different summer weeks. The second stage of And'Praia will be played from 4 to 7 July, followed on 13 and 14 July by the National Beach Teqball Circuit stage.

Beach rugby will be in the spotlight again on the 20 and 21 July weekend, with the European Master Final, while beach volleyball will close the month of July with the National Championship, from 26 to 28 July.

In addition to watching the different demonstrations, everyone is invited to take part in the parallel activities around the stadium, which include chess games, bagpipe concerts and teqball experiences.

Street Basket and parallel activities

Beach football kicks off August at the Beach Stadium. On 3 and 4 August, the National Senior Cup will be held on the sands of Praia Internacional do Porto, followed by something new the following weekend: the 3x3 Street Basket National Circuit, an initiative of the Portuguese Basketball Federation that challenges sports spectators to learn more about this sport.

The Porto Volunteer Firefighters beach football tournament will take place on 17 and 18 August, while beach tennis will close another month of programming on 24 and 25 August.

On the last two weekends of the Beach Stadium, the highlight will be badminton, another of this year's novelties. The Invicta Badminton Club is organising a demonstration activity on this sport, in which several participants will take part.

Finally, as in 2023, the venue will close with the Porto Beach Games on 14 and 15 September.

There will also be parallel activities during this period, such as climbing and tree climbing, trial biking and a bike school.

The Beach Stadium is an initiative of the Porto City Council, with Ágora – Cultura e Desporto in charge of the programme. Admission to all sporting activities is free.
