On 8 June, at 4 p.m., a group of children and youngsters from the parish of Campanhã will present the final show of their first artistic residency as part of the 'Querido Planeta Azul' project in Praça D. João I. The initiative, promoted by Domus Social and Balleteatro, combines different artistic areas: writing, singing, dancing, theatre and music. Access to the show is free.

In one of the main squares in the city centre, 'Querido Planeta Azul' will bring together artists and youngsters between the ages of 12 and 17 in a show that invites reflection on current themes and challenges, as well as a celebration of our common home, planet Earth. With artistic direction by Isabel Barros and production by Balleteatro, the performance also showcases the artistic talents of the city's new generations.

The 'Querido Planeta Azul' project involves three artistic residencies with disadvantaged communities in the parish of Campanhã, each lasting six months. The culmination of each residency, and of all the lessons learnt, takes place in the public presentation of a final show, in which all the students are involved in the production process.

The presentation, which will take place on 8 June, is the culmination of the first planned artistic residency, developed between January and June this year. In addition to the final show, with free access, the result of each artistic residency includes the development of six songs, a teaser and a music video.

Project promoted by Domus Social and Balleteatro

Each residency awakens students' curiosity in different artistic areas, and they each have the opportunity to take part in workshops in creative writing, singing, movement, musical composition and creation.

In partnership with the Campanhã Youth Centre and the Cerco do Porto Primary and Secondary School, this initiative also aims to promote the integration of young people within their communities and, as the name suggests, to make participants aware of the need to value the planet's resources.

In this way, art and culture come together to make citizens more aware and responsible when it comes to themes such as climate change, biodiversity protection and the adoption of more positive, ecological and sustainable lifestyles.

The 'Querido Planeta Azul' project is promoted by Domus Social, the municipal company responsible for managing Porto's housing stock, and Balleteatro. The initiative is co-financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) and is part of the Action Plans for Integrated Operations in Intervention Territories (PAOITI).
