In a list drawn up by 'Insider Monkey', Porto stands out as one of the 10 best cities in the world for walking in 2024. The idyllic landscapes and narrow streets are said to be the characteristics that favour a tourist adventure on foot.

According to the online publication, the Invicta stands out for combining 'narrow rectangular granite stone streets – perfect for exploring – and famous historical landmarks such as the Luís I bridge and the Livraria Lello bookshop'.

In addition, the website highlights 'the city's clean streets and well-maintained parks', which make Porto the ideal place for outdoor walks.

In addition, 'the air quality', which 'is influenced by its coastal location', invites you to walk around the Invicta, Insider Monkey mentions.

Also on the list of the best cities to discover on foot are Florence (Italy), Riga (Latvia), Hamburg (Germany), Madrid (Spain), Edinburgh (Scotland), Tallinn (Estonia), Stockholm (Sweden), Sydney (Australia) and Boston (USA).

At the beginning of this year, Porto joined the Network of Cities and Towns that Walk. The network was created with the aim of establishing a platform for sharing experiences and solutions that are examples of good urban practice in sustainable mobility.
