Cultura em Expansão is back in September with new access rules

The "Cultura em Expansão" is back this September, with a new calendar of activities that features 38 performances till the end of the year. Also, there are new rules to comply with.

Porto is on its way to being a bike friendly city

The Municipality of Porto wants to develop another 35km of cycle routes in the city to reach 50km of bike paths by the end of 2020. Currently, the network of cycleway is circa 15km, but the goal is to extend to another 35km to meet the express aim of regaining the public space as announced by the Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira, in the end of May.

French Invasions remains found in Porto Historic centre

The restoration works in a building located at the Rua de S. Miguel enabled the finding of 13 skeletons of French soldiers, who would be part of the Soult army, more than 200 years ago, during the Napoleonic Invasions.

Quinta do Covelo will have a 3800 sq. m outdoor playground for dogs

The building of the dog playground at Quinta do Covelo kicks off on 3rd August. The dog park equipment will have two different areas, amounting to approximately 3800 sq. m, one for large breed dogs and another one for small breed dogs.

In the White City, by Alain Tanner, at Campo Alegre

The film "In the White City", by Swiss director Alain Tanner, premieres on 31st July, at the cinema studio of Theatre Campo Alegre. Sessions are available at 6.30pm.

Electric charging stations can be set up after draw and should be operational this October

The operators for the ten electric charging stations for automobiles are in place, following the draw held among the candidates. Permits will be dispensed, alongside the respective public space license. Electric charging stations may start operating as of now, with the estimates pointing that by October all equipment is installed.

Porto Metropolitan Area launches tender to keep seagulls under control

The public tender for the preparation of the Action Plan to control seagull population in Municipal Coastal Areas was published on 28th July 2020 in the Official Gazette. The tender's base value is 135 thousand euros and foresees a delivery period of 12 months. Propositions should be submitted within ten days.

CIBIO-InBIO team of the University of Porto discovers new bat species in Portugal

A new bat species, officially named (Myotis alcathoe) (aka morcego-de-bigodes de Alcathoe), has been discovered in Portugal, by CIBIO-InBIO team of the University of Porto, in the Peneda-Gerês National Park. Researchers believe this species can be found in the entre northern region.
