Porto hosts the 2nd edition of BEAST - International Film Festival on 26 September and this year the festival is devoted to Ukraine.

The four-day event features special sessions and competition sessions, as well as masterclasses and workshops that will be held in different places all over the city of Porto, namely Cinema Passos Manuel, Municipal Library Almeida Garrett, Casa das Artes, and OKNA Espaço Cultural, the headquarters of this year's Festival.
The competition sessions are divided in three categories: EastWave - fiction film; EastDoc - documentary films and experimental EAST.

Experimental films remain the hallmarks of the Festival, which showcases films by Eastern Europe filmmakers and Portuguese directors who reside outside the country.

The Focus Country is Ukraine, and this will be an excellent opportunity to unfold Ukraine's cultural wealth and diversity.

The Festival is also aimed at a specific crowd - youth - themed Beast Kid, organised in two different categories: one for children aged 6 to 8 and another for children aged 8 to 12.

Some activities will be undertaken to improve knowledge of successful new work and to promote creativity and inspire audiences, through masterclasses and workshops.

Concurrently, the VISEGRAD FILM HUB will also take place with other four festivals, namely Fest An?a from Slovakia, New Horizons International Film Festival from Poland, Brno16 Film Festival from Check Republic and BuSho Film Festival from Budapest.

Also, in the context of the Festival, there will be several activities throughout the city of Porto.

The Beast Festival is organised by Pluseast - Cultural Association and jointly produced by the Cinematography Portuguese Club - Cineclube do Porto and Porto City Hall.
