"Boom for Real: The Late Teenage Years of Jean-Michel Basquiat" (2011) by Sara Driver features the pre-fame years of the celebrated American artist Jean-Michel Basquiat in the late-'70s New York.

This documentary film presents Basquiat lifestyle, his relationship with cultured friends, such as filmmaker Jim Jarmusch, writer Luc Sante and Andy Warhol.

More than portraying the artist's private life, the film evokes Basquiat's art scene and works. A kind of "force of nature".

Screened at Rivoli, on 11 September at 10 pm.
