"Shop in Porto" is the new online platform to promote traditional trade in town. This initiative is part of the Porto City Hall strategy to boost and increase the sector attractiveness.

The public presentation was held on 25 October at the Rectory of Porto University.

The launch was attended by Mayor Rui Moreira and about a hundred businessmen. Councillor for Economy, Tourism and Trade of Porto City Hall stated that the main goal of this platform is to "raise the profile of street retail trading and increase its visibility for the population".

The City Hall will ensure all traders the photo production of their space and products, and each business will be entitled to an individual page with detailed information for promotion purposes.

The app will provide useful and timely information regarding the type of business and products requested.

"The platform will be operational next March, the time for the indispensable number of business to register", informed Ricardo Valente.
The target is set at 1000 registrations, and the app is programmed to run both in Portuguese and in English.

"The purpose is to replicate in the city the paths that are so simple in shopping centres by means of technology", stated Mayor Rui Moreira.
