The rehabilitation of Campanhã is at the pole position, according to Rui Moreira, the mayor of the city of Porto. It was an emotional Rui Moreira that advanced, yesterday, December 14, that "this is a bet that requires that all political forces commit themselves because it is a long term project (...) and because this is a commitment of all of us for all of us", when presenting the Rehabilitation Urban Operation of the ARU-Campanhã Station.

The action program relating to this systematic operation provides for a major urban rehabilitation, with an overall investment of EUR 75 million over a period of ten years.

Councillor for urban planning, Manuel Correia Fernandes, explained that the territorial and social cohesion of the City is a priority of the current Municipal Cabinet and that urban rehabilitation initiatives are eligible to benefit from tax incentives.

The Urban Rehabilitation Operation now launched in Campanhã is "an opportunity to build a new city, the eastern part of Porto", as highlighted by Rui Moreira, and is intended to capitalise on opportunities to harness the city's potential of urbanisation.

"For sure, the most significant urban recovery operation to be implemented in Portugal for the next ten years", as explained by Helena Medina, Project Consultant, of the Innovation Portuguese Society.
