Casa da Música invites film lovers to enjoy a good old-fashioned film show, with the screening of movies accompanied by live music.

The cycle Invicta.Música.Filmes will run from 17 to 20 February.

Music is said to lift a film off the screen and transport the viewer to other worlds. This is the experience that awaits anyone who goes to Casa da Música to revisit films that marked the film industry.

The cycle kicks-off on 17 February at 4 pm, with a concert creation by Factory 365 in line with an existential reflection and ancient musicality and the screening of original versions of animated films.

On the same day, at 6 pm, The Porto Music Symphonic Orchestra will play Leonard Bernstein's music score of the film "On The Waterfront" by Elia Kazan, featuring Marlon Brando and Eva Marie-Saint.

On 18 February, at noon, the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra celebrates the music of various films, namely "Out of Africa" and the music of John Barry, the "Star Wars Saga" and the soundtrack by John Williams, and "Via Claudia" with music arrangements by Johan de Meij. This concert devoted to cinema ends with an homage to reputed Italian Director Federico Fellini.

The end date of this cycle is 20 February, at 7.30 pm, with Remix Ensemble playing a Wolfgang Mitterer music for the film "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" (German: Das Kabinett des Dr. Caligari), a 1920 German silent horror film, directed by Robert Wiene and written by Hans Janowitz and Carl Mayer. The movie is considered the quintessential work of German Expressionist cinema, and tells the story of an insane hypnotist who uses a somnambulist to commit murders.
