Imagens do Real Imaginado [Imagined Real World Imagery] (IRI) - Photo, Cinema and Media Cycle is already an established tradition at Almeida Garrett Municipal Library.

The 14th edition is held from 30 October to 4 November, organised by the Departments of Imaging Arts and Multimedia of the Escola Superior de Media Artes e Design, a school of the Porto Polytechnic Institute.

This year the Cycle is themed "Travessias" (Crossings), offering "a fascinating dialogue between the various areas of creative drive" and "new building models of art education in an era of increasing technological and web innovation".

The first day of this initiative is devoted to the Teaching of Photography and the closing activity is a "Best Of" of the first two Mostrarte editions.

The programme also features various exhibits, masterclasses, debates and talks.

In the field of cinema, Directors Diogo Costa Amarante ("Cidade Pequena", 2016), Pedro Neves ("Tarrafal", 2016) and Luís Campos ("Carga", 2017) will be present at IRI to put their movies into context and explain work processes.

A novelty is the fact that the Family Film Project Cinema festival will have an extension programme within IRI that includes a round specifically on the issue of Photography. Also, the Israeli documentary film "Photo Farag" will be shown; a mini cycle devoted to Dutch filmmaker Tom Fassaert, Family Film Project winner of last year's edition, will feature films "An Angel In Doel" (2011) and "A Family Affair" (2015).

There will be a cinema session consecrated to the fiction genre and the screening of six short films selected by Family Film Project between 2014 and 2015.

Entrance free. See the entire programme HERE.
