INESC TEC Porto researchers create a forest cleaner robot

A group of researchers of INESC TEC, in Porto, has created a forest cleaner robot. The main goal of such a robot is to reduce the costs of this type of operation, which could cost up to billions of euros.

Moreover, this robot is also designed to help reduce the risk of forest fires. The machine has a considerable autonomy and can stroll the woods alone.

"It is like a tractor type engineering vehicle designed to operate with no driver, with a special set of sensors, prepared to select and cut wood", stated researcher Filipe Santos to TSF radio station.
