Mayor Rui Moreira is a guest speaker at the Moscow Urban Forum (MUF), the largest international Forum on the changes affecting major cities. The Forum has been held annually since 2011, and gathers representatives of city administrations of Russia and the world, bringing together architects, urban planners, developers, heads of financial companies, investors, technological startups, media representatives and average citizens.

Rui Moreira will address the topic "Capital of Impressions. Events as a Driver of Urban Economy", on 17th July, under the "Creativity, Investments" debate panel.

The Mayor will also speak on 18th July, on "First Among Equals. Culture as the Basis of the Future Economy", with a focus on creative industries.

How megacities worldwide remain competitive in the new world, where everything is determined by the quality of human capital is the major question seeking resolve at the MUF 2018.

The Mayor of Porto

Rui Moreira, Mayor of Porto, Portugal, was first elected in 2013. His election stirred the attention of media worldwide, as he was the first independent candidate to be elected in a major European city.

This brought new focus on the political spectrum debate. He was re-elected in October 2017 for a new four years mandate.
