New York based activist, poet and artist Mykki Blanco will be at Palácio do Bolhão (ACE), 6 November at 7 pm under the Forum of the Future event that runs from 5 to 11 November.

Blanco, born Michael David Quattlebaum Jr. in California in 1986 founded the performance art collective NO FEAR and often performs under the moniker of Mykki Blanco.

Mykki Blanco will attend a session themed "A Story of gender & sexual politics - from performance to hip-hop". This talk will be moderated by artist and curator Stanley Schtinter (who was scheduled to moderate the session with Genesis P-Orridge, who cancelled his participation on medical grounds) and will address Quattlebaum's foundations as a rap performer through the persona of MyKKi Blanco, a provocative rapper, to say the least.

"My art stands alone" as Quattlebaum puts it. The alter-ego Mykki Blanco will explain the challenge of subverting indifference into spirituality through her performance works in the digital age and if that alone suffices to seek affirmation regarding sexuality and gender identity.

Mykki Blanco will also address topics such as discrimination at large, namely being transgender and seropositive, touching upon racial issues and transphobia.

The work of Genesis P-Orridge will be presented at the Forum of the future with the screening of the documentary "The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye", by Marie Loisier (winner of the Best Prize in IndieLisboa in 2011).

The Forum of the Future 2017 is themed ELECTRIC EARTH and kicks off 5 November at 4 pm with Richard Sennett and Gareth Evans who will debate the topic "On the way to the Open City" at the Rivoli's Grand Auditorium.
