The technological advances in artificial intelligence and their impact on health systems are one of the starting points for the symposium of the World Health Organisation (WHO) in Porto. Under the theme “The future of the Digital Health Systems in Europe”, the event will happen on the 5th and 6th of September.

Hundreds of governmental representatives, academics, health professionals and organisations from all Member-States of the WHO will come together to outline the course of action in relation to the Regional Digital Health Action Plan for Europe 2023-2030.

“The recent advancements in artificial intelligence in the health sector have triggered a public debate over the how technology and more specifically generative artificial intelligence has the potential to violate the privacy or impact the health of populations”, the World Health Organization shares.

Throughout two days, the participants will discuss themes like the unlocking of the potential of digital health to fight non-transmissible diseases, digital health as a means to prepare against pandemics, as well as the efficiency of telehealth to revolutionise healthcare services or the power of emergent technologies to improve mental health.

Throughout the event in Porto, the World Health Organisation will introduce the new regional report: “Leveraging and scaling up digital transformation for better health and resilience in the European region”.
