Porto Airport sets new passenger traffic record in 2016

For the first time, Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport reached the 9 million passenger mark for the year 2016. It has surpassed the previous record of 8 million in 2015. This took place with a flight from German flag company, Lufthansa, at 11.30. 

Over these past months, Porto airport has continued to grow, with record breaking traffic in the very year that TAP- Transportadora Aérea Portuguesa, has ended most of its flights to and from Porto, thus becoming the third airline company operating in Porto Airport, behind Ryanair and EasyJet, now first and second, respectively, as major airline operators at Porto Airport.

Virtually all airlines have increased their flights and passengers in Porto this year.

In the coming years, new investment will be needed at Porto Airport in order to cope with traffic growth, estimated at 15 %.
