The restaurant Antiqvvm,  in Porto, has been awarded a star by Michelin, that selects the best establishments in the world.

The acquisition of a Michelin star is not a novelty in Porto. Pedro Lemos had already been honoured with a Michelin Star in 2015 which has not been removed. The announcement was made this evening in Girona, Spain.

The Antiqvvm is located in Quinta da Macieirinha, at the Solar do Vinho do Porto, a building that has been concessioned in 2014 by the Porto City Hall. While appreciating the wonderfully cooked food by Chef Vítor Matos, one can enjoy the monumental beauty of the building and gardens that surround it and contemplate a unique and privileged landscape of the city of Porto.

The region of Porto is, for that matter, the region in Portugal that has been awarded more stars by the Michelin Guide for excellence.

Seven restaurants have been awarded a Michelin star for the first time in Portugal, and two restaurants have been awarded a star for the second time. The Michelin Guide has been published in Portugal since 1974.

The national highlight goes to the Greater Porto, which doubles the number of stars, thanks to a second star awarded to the restaurant of The Yeatmam Hotel in Vila Nova de Gaia, the second star awarded to Pedro Lemos and the first star allocated to Casa de Chá da Boa Nova, in Matosinhos, and the Antiqvvm, Porto. The region has now five stars, such as Madeira.

The five stars awarded in the Region are all on the Atlantic Front of Porto, comprising Porto, Matosinhos and Gaia.
