Porto hosts epic Jazz festival in December: Porta-Jazz is back

The Porta-Jazz kicks off on 1 December, in various concert halls all over the city.
The grand Jazz celebration in Porto, the Porta-Jazz is back in town from 1 December till 9 December. 

There will be concerts at Teatro Rivoli, Casa da Música, the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), Passos Manuel, ESMAE - Superior School of Music and Performing Arts, Hot Five, Casa de Ló and even at the Church of Cedofeita.

This ninth edition of the Porta Jazz gathers over a hundred musicians and several Jazz bands, featuring Eliot Zigmund, Manel Fortià and Carlos Azevedo, the Gonçalo Marques Quartet, with Jacob Sacks and Masa Kamaguchi, the drummer Jeff Williams plays with Demian Cabaud, Ariel Bringuez and Angela Cervantes.

This Jazz event builds on the tradition of impromptu trios and quartets of the Jazz world. Most of this artistic partnerships are the first-of-its-kind. Ohad Talmor, Thomas Morgan, JZ Replacement and Frederico Heliodoro are also among the Porta-Jazz highlights.

The activities include meetings with Jazz students, workshops and Clubedo jam sessions, as well. Following the scheduled on stage concerts, there will also be a concurrent programming of improvised Jazz sessions in Jazz Clubs in Porto. These are exclusive and unique performances.

Tickets cost five euros per session (except for the Faculty of Engineering of UP, Church of Cedofeita and ESMAE, which are entrance free.)
