Porto International Airport with over 1069 destinations

Porto.

Porto relies in its airport - Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport - to boost the economy of the region and to establish itself as one of the most sought-out destinations for entrepreneurs, students, visitors and tourists from cities from all around the globe.

Communication systems and transport infrastructure are significant sectors towards boosting the global importance of a city. And airports, recognized for their ability to multiply business activity in their proximity are fundamental to promoting development.

Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport reached the 9 million passenger mark for the year 2016, surpassing the previous record of 8 million in 2015. 

New investment has already been announced at Porto Airport in order to cope with traffic growth, estimated at 15 %.

With the beginning of IATA Summer, this Tuesday, Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, recently awarded Best in Europe in the category of five to 15 million passengers, is now connected to 1,069 destinations (with stopovers), of which 110 are direct flights.

In addition to the extension of four new routes by Ryanair this summer and adding to 47 the number of destinations operated by the Irish company from Porto, Air France also announced the new route to Paris Charles de Gaulle.

With this new route, which marks the return of Air France to Porto Airport after a break of ten years, the airline flies three times a week in each direction (six in high season), on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, using Airbus A320 family aircraft.

KLM also announced flights from Porto to Amsterdam, one of the routes dropped by TAP, starting May 15th, the new Porto-Amsterdam route (Schiphol), with a daily flight using a Boeing 737-700 with a capacity of 132 passengers.

This route will is also be included in the winter schedule.

"We are launching about 328 destinations from and to Porto due to the continued high average rate in the business sector, particularly due to dynamism of businesses from the north of the country, and at cargo level, we know that there is a market due to exports," stated Bruno Georgelin, Air France-KLM General Manager for Spain and Portugal.
