Porto was first awarded Best European Destination in 2012. Porto was again honoured as best destination in Europe for a holiday or city-trip in 2014.

One of Europe's best kept secret, it is said, this magical city, according to BBC, lives up to all the hype: port wine and good food, a historical centre so unique that UNESCO has designated it World Cultural Heritage, museums, parks, gardens, bars, fashion boutiques, Majestic Café, and the river Douro.

This is the third time that Porto in in the race to being awarded the honour of European best Destination.

Third time's a charm, right? So, Porto is once again nominee for Best European Destination 2017.

Travellers from all over the world vote online on their favourite destination among the 20 shortlisted to participate on the competition.

This type of awards is quite prestigious because it is the result of public voting process using social networks data including qualified executives working in tourism and the consumer travel buyer, and the winner represent the very best according not only to its peers but also the world traveller.
