The researcher from i3S, in Porto, Bruno Sarmento, and Nanomedicines & Translational Drug Delivery team leader, was recently appointed President of the Nanomedicine Focus Group of the Controlled Release Society.

This is something quite unusual as it is the first time such a high office is held by a Portuguese researcher.

Controlled Release Society is the largest Systems Organisation for controlled release of drugs, it has over one thousand members worldwide and five Focus Group.

"It is rather rewarding and prestigious! Besides, I am the only European to chair a Focus Group, precisely the one that has more than 300 members. It is of major importance as it will grant visibility to the work we carry out at i3S, in Porto", the researcher states.

Concurrently, the researcher was also invited to join the editorial board of the Journal of Control Release.
