Stronger relations with U.Porto and China to enhanced cooperation

The University of Porto and the Shanghai Institute of Technology (SIT), of China, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), on 6th July at the Rectory of Porto University.

The two institutions will work together in the areas of academic mobility, scientific research and higher education.

This cooperation, which will continue to intensify during the coming three years, is aimed at "broaden student's education opportunities and professional careers", by means of a period of mobility, up to an academic semester, in the other institution".

Another aspect of this MoU is the exchange of teaching staff. Each institution welcomes visiting professors in order to foster further cooperation devoted to higher learning and research.

The U.Porto and SIT also agree to cooperate in other ways, namely cooperation in important areas of research of mutual interest as well as the organisation of scientific seminars, conferences, symposia and workshops.

The implementing of joint research and academic programmes is also under consideration.

The memorandum of understanding was signed at the rectory of Porto University, by the Vice-rector of the U.Porto, Maria de Lurdes Correia Fernandes, and the Director of the International Education Center do SIT, Chen Shuhui.
