Students from Porto author animated films that are eligible for international festivals

Porto state schools students of the 1st Cycle of Basic Education directed two films in the context of the Municipal Educational Programme Porto de Crianças [Porto of Children, free translation], which have been selected for two international festivals.

Both productions are the result of the work carried out in workshops hosted by the Centro Lúdico da Imagem Animada/ANILUPA Porto Playrooms Association.

"O livro dos sonhos" ["The Book of Dreams", free translation], is an animated film that is included in the Dubrovnik Film Festival, in Croatia. The film was authored by students of the Monte Aventino First Grade School. This is the story of a book that is the keeper of dreams to transform them into fantastic adventures.

"Pelas ruas do Barredo" ["On the streets of Barredo", free translation], was directed by students of the First Grade School of Alegria. This film was selected to take part in the 14th Anim!Arte International Festival of Students Animation in Brazil.

This is the tale of older times in the place of Barredo, in Porto Historic Centre. This production was already awarded the Dubrovnik Film Festival Grand Prix, in 2017.

Both productions are part of the animated cinema archive that includes 82 films authored and directed by first graders in the context of the Porto de Crianças Project.

The international screening is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the work carried out by state schools in Porto.
