The 9th edition of the C-DAYS conference, dedicated to the theme "More Trust", runs until this Friday, at the Alfândega do Porto. This is the meeting point of the cybersecurity community in Portugal, which seeks to provide the ideal environment for sharing knowledge, ideas, and practices on the subject.

The C-DAYS 2023 conference brings together speakers from different areas (decision-makers, practitioners, academics, students, and the wider community) to discuss and promote reflection in the fields of society, economics, public policy, ethics and law, risks and conflicts, as well as future innovation and technologies, applied to cyberspace, to increase the level of cybersecurity maturity of individuals and organizations.

The opening session was attended by the vice-mayor of the Porto Chamber, Filipe Araújo, the coordinator of the National Cybersecurity Centre, Lino Santos, and the director general of the National Security Office, Rear Admiral António Gameiro Marques.

"More than ever, it is justified that we look with concern, but above all, with responsibility and increased attention to cybersecurity issues", said Filipe Araújo. In the view of the vice-mayor and councillor of Innovation and Digital Transition, "for the city of Porto, the control of technological infrastructure is key to the success of the development of a high-impact digital strategy". “Through Porto Digital we control the city's communications infrastructure, urban platform, and operations support applications. With such ambition also comes a huge responsibility – with an infrastructure that connects the entire city, there will have to be increased attention on prevention and surveillance when it comes to cybersecurity”, he added.

Filipe Araújo, who participates today in one of the sessions, dedicated to the theme "Public Policies I, Is Your Municipality Cybersecure?", assured that the municipality of Porto gives municipal teams all the tools "to deal with the challenges and risks that the internet and online work represent", as well as working with the citizens, such as the CommuniCity project, currently underway, which "intends to involve and train the population of Campanhã, with the support of local associations and partners, for an informed and safe use of digital media, seeking to enhance the social inclusion of the citizens of this particular area".
