The sports competition "Porto a Subir" pushed athletes to the extreme on 1 July

This is the 15th edition of this tough sporting event in Porto. On 1 July, 250 participants, of six different nationalities tested their limits in this endurance race, one of the most iconic of the city official calendar.

This race against the clock included 206 steps of the "Escadas do Codeçal" and the second half of the challenge comprised 290 steps of the "Escadas dos Guindais".

The champion athlete for this first challenge was Adrião Rodrigues with a time of 1m 46,9s. Rosa Madureira was the female winner in 2m22, 2s.

Residents and tourists' support was key to helping competitors overcome the hard footrace and get to the finish line.

Tomás Baptista was the winner for the fourth consecutive year in the second challenge, the "Escadas dos Guindais" racecourse, with the time of 1m21, 5s. Alison Hooper, a Canadian tourist and first time participant to the race, was the winner for women athletes, with the time of 1m48, 4s.

This event was organised by Runporto with the support of the Clube Desportivo e Cultural dos Guindais.
