Half way through musical routine and visual installation, this joint performance by visual artist and set designer Nadia Lauro and composer and harpist Zeena Parkins unfolds against an anamorphic carpet that leads the audience to engage on optical illusions and games of perception. Volmir Cordeiro, Latifa Laâbissi and Stephen Thompson are the guest performers for this world premiere in the Serralves Musuem, on 16 December at 6 pm.

Stitchomythia is the theme of this artistic expression, set up for performers, who will work on an anamorphosis topography to provide a spatial music score scale.

Nadia Lauro draws on Shining, by Stanley Kubrick, a film where Hotel Overlook is the main character of the movie, by becoming a landscape, playing with the trompe-l'oeil kind of topography, where the bi-dimensional rug conveys the impression of waves, grooves and soil movement.

This mechanism is governed by the "secret perspective art". The result is a sensorial ambiguity experienced by the spectator, who is offered a prominence landscape and the two-dimensional reality that keeps transmuting.

Also, Stitchomythia is inspired by Lace, an ongoing project by Zeena Parkins, which initiated in 2008 and it is based on fragments of lace that have been collected in numerous places, namely Scotland, Turkey, Belgium, Spain, Italy and France.

This is the perfect combination for a variety of movements by improvisers and where lace is the canvas that changes according to distance or proximity.

This show will give spectators a feeling of disquiet, wrapped in obsession and bewitchment.
