The exhibition "O Palco e a Cidade, Teatro do Porto 1850-1950" celebrates one century of the art of theatre, at Casa do Infante.

The theatrical history of Porto is on display not only at Casa do Infante but also at Rivoli, São João and Coliseu, available until March 27, 2017.

Visitors are offered the chance to view unique items from Porto theatrical history, such as behind-the-scenes objects, props, written history and many other largely unseen pieces, in this exhibition curated by Gonçalo Vilas-Boas.

"The Stage and the City" free exhibition seeks to portrait the eclectic, bourgeois type of life of that time in Porto, tracing the  main Portuguese writers over the last 10 decades, referencing examples such as Francisco de Sá Noronha, Ciríaco Cardoso and Alfredo Keil.

The show also draws on the history of international literary trends such as Gioacchino Rossini, Giuseppe Verdi, Georges Bizet.

Examining theatrical art and history, this exhibition shines a spotlight on lyrical theatre, vaudevilles, magical reels and zarzuelas, dance or opera.
