University of Porto emerged as the winner of the 23rd Global Marketing Competition

Students of the University of Porto were distinguished by winning the 23rd edition of the Global Marketing Competition (GMKC), one of the biggest competitions of the world in the Supply Chain Management and Finance.

The competition took place in the Spanish city of Madrid, between the 10 and 13 December.

The Portuguese team, led by Luís Filipe Valente, INESC-TEC researcher and graduate student of the Master degree in Electrotechnical Engineering and Computers of the Faculty of Engineering of Porto University (FEUP), also includes Bruno Silva, graduate student in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering of FEUP and Maria João Campos, Master student in Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP). 

The team from the University of Porto emerged as the stronger team and was awarded a prize money worth 16 thousand euros, as well as an MBA degree to all the members of the team.

The team from the University of Porto advanced a project in the field of optimisation and simulation processes for a company in the motor vehicle industry, by presenting the most efficient solutions.

The award was granted at the GMKC 2018 in the 'Ciudad Financiera de Banco Santander'.

The Global Marketing Competition gathers over 80 countries and more than 5.000 participants from 800 universities all over the world.
