"Orlando", a novel by Virginia Woolf is revisited in the monologue "Grande Vaga de Frio" [wave of cold weather] which will be on stage at Carlos Alberto Theatre, from 10 November to 19 November.

A drama by Luísa Costa Gomes, directed by Carlos Pimenta and interpreted by Emília Silvestre, this play marks a meeting with the adventures of a poet who changes sex from man to woman and lives for centuries, meeting the key figures of English literary history in a satiric form.

As stated in the performance synopsis:"Orlando is still attractive. He has been 36 years old for the past 100 years. Is he a man? A woman? He has no doubt regarding gender and yet, he cannot be certain. Making an assessment of his life as a woman, as a married woman as as a published poet, Orlando hears the sound of the wind in the oak tree, the same wind that took her husband to Cape Horn. Orlando was indeed happy in the Great Wave of Cold Weather and he prepares to return to the great Carnival on Ice."
