The 2018-2019 cultural season of Porto Municipal Theatre is aimed at attracting more people than ever and the main denominator is a rich and vibrant programming. Rui Moreira, Mayor of Porto and in charge of the Culture Department of Porto City Hall unfolds the main highlights regarding the artistic performances: more than 63 events and new artistic discoveries. The kick off moment of the new cultural season happens on 6 September
.

This new season brings new features, namely a fresh branding by White Studio on the making, the launch of an agenda book to keep track of all events taking place in town, the substantial decrease of paper support (including flyers, index sheets, etc.) by integrating digital as the privileged support, namely a smartphone application and the Municipal Theatre Website.

Rui Moreira stated that the launch of the new Municipal Theatre Season comprises a more comprehensive time horizon - 6 months.

This new season of cultural activities includes 63 shows (these do not include the shows to be announced in the context of The Forum of the Future and Porta Jazz). Fourteen of these shows are international performances, eleven of which national premieres. It is worth mentioning the latest creation by the French choreographer, Noé Soulier, "The Waves". Also, 20 performances are by Companies and Structures that are based in Porto.

"The full investment regarding the Municipal Theatre Programming for the coming six months is 575 thousand euros", Rui Moreira declared. "And these figures will enable us to close the year 2018 with the presentation of 121 performances, approximately 210 recitatives, 32 of which international and 43 co-productions entirely from scratch, 24 of those with infrastructures that are based in Porto".

This year the celebration of the eighty-seventh anniversary of Rivoli will be a two-day commemoration, under the motto "100% Porto", to be held on 19 and 20 January 2019.

"As usual, this will be a festivity for the city, for all ages and entrance free", Rui Moreira concluded.
