Bolhão Temporary Market features showcooking events on the first Saturday of every month. The first professional cook to make anyone's mouth water is Pedro Lemos, on 6 October. The renowned chef and the first honoured with a Michelin Star of the city of Porto in 2014, Chef Pedro Lemos is also the first to welcome visitors to the initiative "Chef no Bolhão".

If you are on the lookout for surf excitement, why not head up to Porto & Matosinhos Wave Series, at Praia Internacional, with four competitions scheduled for 5 October. The CA Open & Masters Cup kicks off the surf event, followed by three other competitions for this month of October.

The Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira will attend the opening of the exhibition "Douro: an alchemy between air, land and river", on 4th October in Bordeaux, France. Alain Juppé, Mayor of Bordeaux and former Prime Minister of France, will also attend the official opening.

Porto Customs Congress Centre will host the XV EUSARF International Conference, which runs from 2 till 5 October. EUSARF stands for European Scientific Association on Residential & Family Care for Children and Adolescents and it gathers researchers on child welfare and protection. EUSARF works voluntarily and disseminates knowledge in the field of child care.

The Apollo International Art Magazine has included, for the first time, a Portuguese marchand in the list of the 40 best cultural players in Europe. The gallery owner, from Porto, was selected for the under 40 category. Nuno Centeno was awarded at The Wallace Collection, in London.

In the framework of the forty years of twinning, Porto and Nagasaki have created a store of relationships based on the values of friendship and cooperation. Porto City Hall, jointly with Nagasaki City Hall, have organised a display on the topic "A- Bomb Exhibition, Hiroshima and Nagasaki" to commemorate this long-standing and fruitful relationship.

The national Theatre of São João (TNSJ) has created a school project targeted at elementary, high school and professional teaching students, as well as college students to boost the role of theatre and performance in society.

Enter Sofar Sounds show game of luck and attend a Sofar gig in Porto on 13th October. Sofar Sounds was founded in 2009 by Rafe Offer, who invited some friends over to a London flat for an intimate gig. If you are interested in participating, apply for tickets up until 5 days before the event, unless tickets are sold out.

British band Echo & The Bunnymen will perform in Portugal next February, and the gig in Porto is already scheduled for 9th February, at the Hard Club, as stated by the promoter At The Rollercoaster.

Porto Municipal Gallery opens the exhibit ""Curveball Memory", on 6 October. The exhibition is curated by Sofia Lemos, and it is the most significant exhibit developed in Portugal by the "Musa paradisíaca" artistic project created in 2010 by Eduardo Guerra and Miguel Ferrão.
