Students took on the role of Director and made an animated film. The animated film "Pelas ruas do Barredo", made by students of the Alegria Elementary School has won the Dubrovnik Film Festival Grand Prize 2017, in Croatia. This film was made within the Educational Programme of Porto Municipality "Porto de Crianças" (Porto of Children), under the guidance of CLIA/ANILUPA from Associação de Ludotecas do Porto (Porto Playroom Association).

Rivoli features two alternate performances 27 and 28 October. The trilogy "Vanish" provides an insight of the bourgeoisie, its growing hatefulness, deceptive appearances, kept longings and religious assumptions. The second performance is "A Tecedeira que lia Zola" (The weaver who read Zola) by Gonçalo Amorim. This is the second part of the trilogy of troubled youth, inspired by revolutionary movements and providing them the opportunity to reflect and meditate.

The architectural firm Summary, from Porto and headquartered at UPTEC - Science and Technology Park of Porto University has won the international Red Dot Award: Design Concepts, in the "Habitat" category, with the Gomos Modular Building System. The project is on display till January 2018 at the Red Dot Museum in Singapore.

Porto Marathon is held 5 November and registrations are open. As in previous years, Porto marathon gathers thousands of athletes of all ages. In 2016, the event brought together 15,000 athletes.

Porto hosted the 41st edition of Portugal Fashion which over three days welcomed the Spring/summer 2018 collections by renowned designers, new talent and national brands. The Porto Granfondo is expected to gather thousands of cyclists on the banks of the River Douro, Sunday morning, 29 October. This bicycle touring takes place on open road and in a festive atmosphere. This sport discipline is for the second year running included in the official schedule of the Portuguese Cycling Federation.

"Turandot", by Giacomo Puccini, is featured in Coliseu Porto bringing back opera to the city of Porto Saturday, 21 October, starting at 8 pm. "There is opera in the Coliseu!" became the bywords of the city of Porto under the agreement signed between Coliseu Porto and the São Carlos National Theatre. This joint partnership will enable Coliseu Porto to stage incredible world-class opera shows.

The Puppet Theatre "A Tarumba" features the performance "Este não é o nariz de Gógol..." (This is not Gógol's nose?), 21 October in Rivoli. The show is based on Gógol's world (reminiscente of Godot) and Jacques Prévert. The play takes place in a kitsch ambiance, which relies on paper jointed figures and objects to translate the surreal and absurd world we live in.

The School of Music Guilhermina Suggia promotes, 21 October, a concert to honour cellist from Porto, Guilhermina Suggia (1885/1950), that will take place in Palacete dos Viscondes de Balsemão (Carlos Alberto Square), at 6 pm, with free entrance.
