Students took on the role of Director and made an animated film. The animated film "Pelas ruas do Barredo", made by students of the Alegria Elementary School has won the Dubrovnik Film Festival Grand Prize 2017, in Croatia.

This film was made within the Educational Programme of Porto Municipality "Porto de Crianças" (Porto of Children), under the guidance of CLIA/ANILUPA from Associação de Ludotecas do Porto (Porto Playroom Association).

This animation was directed in 2015/16 by 3rd grade students and portrays other life-times, another era in Barredo, right at the heart of Porto historic centre.

This 10 minute animated film is the result of the will to recreate true life stories narrated by Cândido Venceslau, "born and raised" in this place, in Barredo. Venceslau got along with the students a large part of the school year.

The Dubrovnik Film Festival is an annual event aimed at films created by children and young people from Mediterranean countries.

This was the first time that a project by "Porto de Crianças" has been awarded the Festival's Grand Prize.

The short animated film adds to the already vast collection of films and awards made under the framework of this municipal programme. The film is being featured at the Up-and-Coming International Film Festival, in Hannover, Germany, till 26 October.
