Victor Hugo Pontes features the performance "Margens" [Margins] at Campo Alegre, inspired by the novel "Capitães da Areia [Captains of the Sands] by Brazilian writer Jorge Amado. The book was written in 1937. The show will be on stage at the auditorium of campo Alegre Theatre, on 16 and 17 June.

This performance is held in the framework of FITEI 2018.

The book portrays the lives of homeless children. Ostracised by society, the street kids have to steal food and try to live another day, in the streets of São Salvador da Baía.

Victor Hugo Pontes states that "I wanted to question who the "Captains of the sands" are nowadays, drawing on the social reality of youngsters living at the margins of society. The show was written by Joana Craveiro, and the project was prepared based on the work carried out with youngsters who have been deprived from school, food, care, a father, a mother - young people living in shortage of all this for reasons beyond their responsibility".

The "Nome Próprio" is a resident theatrical company of Teatro Campo Alegre, in the context of the Theatre in Campo Aberto Programme and relies on the support of the Portuguese Republic - Ministry of Culture/ Directorate-General for Arts.
