Reputed pianist, Pedro Burmester will play the piano which belonged to Guilhermina Suggia, and that was acquired and restored by Porto City Hall, on March 10 at the Palacete dos Viscondes de Balsemão (Carlos Alberto Square), starting at 6 pm.

"Suggia em Duo" is the recital's title and joins on stage pianist Pedro Burmester and cellist José Augusto Pereira de Sousa, who will play a cello that also belonged to Suggia.

The programme features Schubert: Impromptu in G flat Op. 90 No. 3, Sergei Rachmaninoff: Cello Sonata in G minor, Op. 19: Andante (3. movement) and Johannes Brahms: Cello Sonata nº 1 Op. 38.

Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira has decided to present this important instrument to the city. Guilhermina Suggia's piano was acquired by the City Hall last September, and it was restored by the specialised workshop Lamiré Casa dos Pianos.

This piano, a Franz Arnold ¼ Grand Piano, has mostly a symbolic value as it was Suggia's study instrument.

This event is organised in the context of the new season of the municipal programme which aims at sharing the city's patrimony, under the title initiative "Um Objeto e seus Discursos por Semana" [One Object and its Words per Week].
