The opening of the exhibit to honour Paulo Cunha e Silva, the Towering Figure of UP 2019, was also the occasion to open doors of the "Casa Comum", a venue that was established at the Rectory of the University of Porto as of 3 April and is the common place of all the fourteen faculties within the UP, whose aim is to revolutionise the way culture is perceived and displayed in the Invicta.

"Our revolution will be undertaken with music, movement, bright images and empowered views", that was how the Vice-Rector for Culture of The University of Porto (UP), Fátima Vieira marked the inauguration of the various cultural spaces within the Rectory of the UP.

There are an auditorium, which is set to host film screening, concerts and performances, two exhibition rooms and a videoart room, prepared to host installations.

The "Casa Comum is ready to host emerging talents and bet on experimental culture, either from students, professors or public at large", declared Fátima Vieira.

The activities programme is almost fully booked till the end of the year, and it includes performances, exhibits, round tables, talks with artists and movie sessions and theme days.

The UP has made available an app - "Acontece na U.Porto" - that enables to monitor, in real time, not only all the cultural, scientific and sports activities performed at the rectory, but also the activities taken place in the different faculties, research centres and museum nuclei of the University.

"This will be a good instrument to help people understand everything that is going on at the University. This app will allow the establishment of a conceptual campus", Fátima Vieira concluded.
