A Christmas party for everyone in Porto kicks off on 1 December

From 1 December till 6 December, the city of Porto will be dressed up in merry colours for the festive season.
Streets and squares will transform into sheer joy as lighting and caroling will wrap everyone's hearts into the values of humanity and solidarity. 

Downtown Porto invites to indulging in the season spirit, with the ice-rinks ready to host fun and amusement both for children and adults alike.

The majestic Christmas tree will be set up at Avenida dos Aliados, in front of the City Hall. A fireworks display will mark the inauguration of the lighting of the tree at 6 pm, on 1 December.

The celebration of Christmas in town will begin earlier, at 3 pm, all over downtown Porto, featuring bands and roving entertainers. At 3.30 pm, French street performer Mr. Bang will present almost absurd tricks in an explosive comedy act.

At 4.30 pm, Carolina Deslandes will go on stage next the Espelho de Água, in the upper side of the Aliados.

Following the lighting of the tree, the reputed Saint Dominic's Gospel Choir will perform, gathering 50 musicians on stage, at 6.30 pm.

Public transport is the best way to get to the festivities downtown Porto, as there will be major traffic constraints in all the surrounding areas, due to the security perimeter that is established according to safety procedures.

Metro and bus passenger services will be enhanced to meet the demand.

Also, parking areas will work under a special regime; that is, the "park and Ride" modality will apply when validating the "Andante" transport ticket, including Casa da Música (644 parking spaces), Campo Alegre (497 parking spaces) and Estádio do Dragão (850 parking spaces), where parking a car costs 0, 95 euros, for a 12 hour period, with the possibility to catch the bus or go by Metro to the city centre.

The Campo 24 de Agosto Parking Area provides 300 parking spaces, where parking a car costs 5 euros for a 12 hour period, the exception being that there is no need to validate the transport Ticket (Andante).
