The ever vibrant performing arts scene in Porto brings a full Schedule to the Invicta this month of April. And if you are not one to be "dancing in the rain" these days, here you can find suggestions to enliven your days and nights.

Till the end of April, there is the second edition of BoCA - Biennial of Contemporary Arts, an event that brings together theatre, dance and performance. The DDD + FITEI kicks off on 24 April and for the first time ever, it combines a week's programme of both events, the result being a handful of shows throughout Porto.

So, the National Theatre São João will take to the stage a play by Martin Crimp on "violence as a driver for History","O Resto Já Devem Conhecer do Cinema" (The Rest You might know from the Movies", free translation). Nuno Carinhas explores the world of Crimp, jointly with Fernando Mora Ramos (Teatro da Rainha) and both resume the partnership initiated with "The End of Possibilities", by Sarrazac (2015). On show from 10 to 14 April. 

Then, feast with the performance "Diet Plan for the Western Man", at Ateneu Comercial do Porto, from 11 to 13 April. A conference versus performance by Carlos Azeredo Mesquita and Luísa Saraiva on food "as a weapon for cultural domination" and of certain relations of power.

Delicacies by Chef Vasco Coelho Santos will be served, from the Euskalduna Studio.

Also, the House-Museum Fernando de Castro, located at Rua de Costa Cabral, the "Séance" performance will present the newest creation by Mariana Tengner Barros at BoCA, which explores the principles governing spiritualists sessions, from 16 to 18 April.

"Hello My Name Is" awaits audiences at Theatre Carlos Alberto, from 17 to 18 April. Rashidi Edward plays a man with manifold roles, sensing violence both from the past and the present. This is a political theatre directed by Paulo Castro.

Our April tips conclude with DDD + FITEI, all over Porto, from 24 April to 25 May 2019. For a whole month, several venues in town will host a stream of dance and theatre performances in the framework of the DDD and the FITEI all combined.

Both festivals share a week of joint programming and the cycle Foco Brasil, exclusively devoted to Brazilians artists.
