SUMMARY, a company incubated at UPTEC - Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto by Samuel Gonçalves, former student at the Faculty of Architecture of UP (FAUP), has recently travelled to Boston, in the USA to present an exhibit that uses virtual reality technology.

The exhibition was on display at the Salt Gallery of Boston Society of Architects Foundation and it consisted of an interactive and immaterial exhibit themed "The Reasons Offsite", designed to offer an out of the box experience to visitors, who must use special goggles and can choose what path to follow when visiting the exhibit.

It was up to each person to select what they wanted to see, in what moment and with the specific details. The topic of the exhibit was the presentation of the evolution of architecture in the sector of pre-manufactured structures.

Renowned architects such as Yona Friedman, Professor at MIT and at Harvard University, and Pedro Alonso, one of the curators of the Venice Biennial 2014 have also participated in the making of the exhibit.

"An exhibition that uses virtual reality allows showcasing in a more efficient and economical way, when compared to traditional ways of setting up an exhibition. In this case, the transfer of content is done without the shipment of materials and boxes, reducing both costs and litter production", declares Samuel Gonçalves, of SUMMARY.

The "The Reasons Offsite" relied on the support of Porto City Hall and was presented in the context of the Tirana Architecture Week 2018.
