After several weeks with the uninterrupted streaming of dozens of films, the Cinephile Quarantine concludes this week, with a programme devoted to Japanese director Yasujiro Ozu.

Yasujir? Ozu was a Japanese film director and screenwriter, who began his career during the era of silent films. Ozu first made a number of short comedies, before turning to more serious themes in the 1930s. His last films were made in colour in the early 1960s.

His first colour film "Equinox Flower" is available online till Thursday, 21st May. The film is based on a novel by Ton Satomi.

Starting on 21st May, the drama film "Late Autumn" stars Setsuko Hara and Yoko Tsukasa as a mother and daughter, and is based on a story by Ton Satomi, as well.

"Late Autumn" follows the attempts of three older men to help the widow of a late friend to marry off her daughter. The daughter is less than happy at the proposals, mainly because of her reluctance to leave her mother alone. The film was selected as the Japanese entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 33rd Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee. Late Autumn is highly regarded by critics.

"Good Morning" is Ozu's second film in color, and it is streamed by Campo Alegre Porto Municipal Theatre and Medeia Filmes from 12 o'clock 23rd May to 12 o'clock 26th May.

The film takes place in suburban Tokyo, and begins with a group of boy students going home.

These special sessions by Porto Municipal Theatre and Medeia Filmes kept your love of film alive during Quarantine, and that is a good thing.
