Casa da Música in Porto delivers a master performance by Porto Symphony Orchestra, with a repertoire of excellence, on 29 March, at 9.30pm at Sala Suggia.

The programme for 29 March features four pieces that are deemed the 19th century greatest hits, directed by Steven Sloane.

The three first pieces are all from American composers; namely, Symphonic Dances from West Side Story (1957), by Leonard Bernstein,?the Fanfare for the Common Man (1942), by Aaron Copland, and Rhapsody in Blue (1924), by George Gershwin, a piano concert with jazz-influenced effects, featuring soloist Mário Laginha.

The fourth piece establishes a link with the Latin-American world; it is the Danzón n.º 2 (1994), the most renowned piece by Mexican Arturo Márquez, featuring lively sounds and Gustavo Dudamel and the Simón Bolívar Youth Symphony Orchestra that play this piece on a regular basis.
