Exhibition of four years of Porto City Hall visual code by graphic design at Edifício dos Correios

The exhibition "Design by Porto, Porto by Design: 4 years of design by Porto City Hall" will be shown at Palácio dos Correios, just across the City Hall building, May 30, under the European Design Awards event that will take place in the city of Porto, May 27.

The way Porto City Hall has organised the city, spatially and environmentally, so as to develop a graphic structure that relates to the physical city of Porto and the making of the city's cultural and communication strategy that has involved designers, city planners and communication teams, will be the focus of this exhibition.

The exhibition features a set of billboards, booklets, flyers, issues and logos, websites and merchandising, in order to understand the visual code and identity of the city of Porto.

The exhibit includes objects from 40 cultural projects, developed by 28 studios and individual designers: And Atelier, Another Collective, Atelier d'Alves, Atelier Martino & Jaña, Autos, Carlos Azeredo Mesquita, Colönia, Dayana Lucas, Idea, Inês Nepomuceno, Joana Pestana, João Drumond, Márcia Novais, Maria João Macedo, Mariana Marques, Marta Ramos, Mousse Publishing, Paulo Mendes, Pedro Nora, R2, Royal Studio, Andrew Howard Studio, Studio Dobra, Studio Iris, SV Ä R and White Studio. 

Porto has gained international recognition through the often awarded work of these designers, in the fields of artistic creation and cultural activity.

In the scope of the exhibition, a catalogue will be published on design projects that includes an essay written by Mário Moura, professor of graphic design and multimedia at Faculty of Fine Arts in UP - University of Porto. 

The work has a preface by Rui Moreira, Mayor of Porto, and will be available for sale at the exhibition.

"Design by Porto, Porto by Design: 4 years of design by Porto City Hall " is a free event that will take place at Palácio dos Correios building until 23 July, from 10 am to 6 pm, from Tuesday to Sunday.
