Fantasporto Film Festival reveals the "Challenges of Modernity"

The 39th International Film Festival of Porto, aka Fantas, will be held from 22 February to 2 March, at Rivoli. This is its 39th edition of the city's festival and reveals the "Challenges of Modernity".

The film festival features a pre-opening on 19th February with the showing of the restored version of the Indie film "Easy Rider", directed by Dennis Hopper and starred by Peter Fonda as Wyatt and Dennis Hopper as Billy, two Harley-riding hippies that decide to embark in a journey through the country in search of spiritual truth. This screening is held in the context of the Fantas Classics.

The official kick-off happens on 22 February with the premiere of "Prospect", by Zeek Earl and Chris Caldwell.

Also this year, Fantas includes the Orient Express and the Portuguese Cinema Awards, which will be shown at the Small Auditorium of Rivoli.

The film festival concludes on 2 March, and presents the awarded films on 3 March.

The festival's focus are English language films, for the first time screened in Portugal with English subtitling.
The parallel programming comprises different colloquia, workshops and conferences to debate art in this Modern Era.
