Grand Exhibitions' Da Vinci - The Genius in Porto on March 31st, at the Alfândega Building in Porto. The exhibition will be on display until July 31st.

Da Vinci - The Genius is the most comprehensive Leonardo da Vinci exhibition to tour the world. With the assistance of Museo Leonardo da Vinci (Italy) and Pascal Cotte of Lumiere Technology (France), this display brings to life the genius of Leonardo epitomized as the "Renaissance man".

Da Vinci was a painter, an inventor, an artist, a scientist, an anatomist, an engineer, an architect, a sculptor and a philosopher.

At present, he remains best known for his art, including two world famous paintings, Mona Lisa and The Last Supper.

For Da Vinci, art was undeniably connected with science and nature. Mainly self-educated, Da Vinci dreamed of inventions, theories and concepts that he wrote down in dozens of secret notebooks.

His contemporaries did not fully appreciate his genius because, to a great extent, like Sigmund Freud wrote, he was "like a man who awoke too early in the darkness, while the others were all still asleep."

Leonardo Da Vinci's interest ranged from fine art to aeronautics or anatomy.

Italian artisans have faithfully crafted interactive and life-size machine inventions for this matchless, full-spectrum Leonardo da Vinci exhibition experience.  Visitors will have the unique experience to observe works that include the first concepts of a car, a bicycle, a helicopter, a glider, a parachute, a SCUBA, a submarine, a military tank just to name a few.

Furthermore, the exhibit will also present facsimiles of Leonardo's most famous codices, anatomical studies, Anghiari battle drawings and Renaissance art.

It is mandatory to visit this unique show to fully grasp the meaning of the word genius.

Da Vinci - The Genius exhibition is sponsored by Porto City Hall and the University of Porto.
