Tradition will parade through the streets of Porto this Wednesday, March 28 to celebrate the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles as described in the Canonical gospels.

This ancient tradition known as Maundy or Holly Thursday [Procissão das Endoenças] relives the Christian holy day falling on the Thursday before Easter.

This meal is the last time Jesus spends with his disciples and tells them what is to happen. "A new commandment I give unto you: That you love one another, as I have loved you, that you also love one another."

Misericórdia do Porto, jointly with Cabido Portucalense, organise this ancient procession that is held at Porto Historic Centre. This will be the perfect occasion to behold an ancient tradition performed live by professional actors by the Theatre Company Dogma\12.

The religious parade starts at 9 pm and lasts about 2 hours, departing from São Domingos Plaza and ending at Terreiro da Sé.

This initiative is supported by Porto City Hall.
