Starting on the last weekend of this month, various public spaces in the municipality will host the travelling cycle programmed by the Porto City Council and the Inatel Foundation.

As usual at this time of year, the mild evenings take the movies out of theatres and scatter them around the city's squares, plazas and gardens. This year, 11 blockbusters will be screened outdoors in the Cinema Fora do Sítio cycle, on Fridays and Saturdays between 26 July and 31 August, always at 09:30 p.m. and free of charge.

Celebrating its 25th anniversary, the initiative once again combines popular film genres, aimed at audiences with different preferences and of different ages. If Fridays have a more varied offer, Saturdays are mainly dedicated to families, with animated films dubbed into Portuguese.

A special tribute to director António-Pedro Vasconcelos, who died this year, is scheduled for 26 July at Alameda das Fontaínhas, with the reprise of 'Jaime', one of his most emblematic films, shot in Porto, to celebrate the project's quarter-century.

The first weekend of August is set to feature two highly successful sagas: 'Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga' is screened on 02 August, at Praça de D. João I, and 'Kung Fu Panda 4' can be watched on the 03 August, at Largo da Estação, in Campanhã.

These will be followed by two comedies on 9 and 10 August, one romantic and the other an animated action film: 'Anyone But You' will be featured in the garden of the Pernambuco Porto Institute (located opposite to Campo Alegre Café Theatre), and 'Noah's Ark' in the Palácio de Cristal Gardens.

Sessions with 500 seats available

The following weekend, the screens travel to the western part of the city. On Friday 16, it's time for war cinema at Jardim de Sobreiras, near Foz do Douro, with the screening of 'Civil War'. And on Saturday, Parque da Pasteleira will host a new session aimed at younger audiences, 'Dragonkeeper'.

23 of August will feature a night of terror at Quartel de Monte Pedral, with the screening of 'Immaculate', and 24 of August is reserved for the intergenerational 'Garfield', at Quinta do Covelo.

Finally, on 30 August, Revolução (Sem) Sangue (Blood (Less) Revolution), a Portuguese film released on the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April celebrations, comes to Largo do Amor de Perdição, and the following day you can watch 'Despicable Me 4' at Jardim Sarah Afonso.

There will be 500 seats available at each session, on a first come, first served basis, starting at 09:30 p.m.. In the event of adverse weather conditions, the venue of the sessions may change.

Cinema Fora do Sítio is an initiative co-organised by the Porto City Council, through the municipal company Ágora, and the Inatel Foundation.
