International Piano Contest Santa Cecília seeks piano talents

Applications for the International Piano Contest Santa Cecília are open till 1 June, in search for the best pianists in the world.

The applicant who wins first place is awarded the "City of Porto Prize", sponsored by Porto City Hall and a pecuniary prize of 5000 euros.

The 20th edition of this contest is also promoted by the Bank of China.

Casa da Música and Fundação Manuel António da Mota will play host to this event between 16 and 22 July.

The International Piano Contest Santa Cecília is the largest and the longest-running international music contest to take place in Portugal and it is organised by the Silva Monteiro Music Course.

The competition is open to participants up to 32 years old for the main category and the categories from the Santa Cecilia International Competition JUNIOR are open for young participants aged between 5 and 18.

This year's competition is dedicated to Piano. The Final Round of the main category will be accompanied by the orchestra "Orquestra Filarmónica Portuguesa".

This competition brings together more than 100 musicians between 5 and 32 years old every year, organised in different categories, according to their age group.

Prizes worth a total of 8000 euros will be awarded to the winners in the different categories, as well as priceless opportunities regarding positive career perspectives both at national and international level.
