The Serralves Foundation will carry out a biological inventorying on the existing fauna and flora in the Serralves Park on April 21 and 22.
Everyone is invited to this "express biological inventorying", with free entrance.

This 5th edition of Bioblitz is sponsored by Lipor and Porto City Hall and the major goal of this event is the active public engagement in environmental protection and biodiversity preservation, through a "strong effort to congregate as many people possible - experts from several areas, volunteers, families, students, teachers, and other members of the community", the organisation declared.

Unlike a scientific inventory, which is restricted to biologists and scientists, Bioblitz gathers experts from several areas, volunteers, families, students, teachers and other members of the community that share the resolve to unveil the biodiversity of Serralves Park, which was designed by French architect Jacques Gréber.

This year, the inventorying features a novelty with concepts and methodologies pertaining to "art and environment in joint collaboration", as stated by the organisation.

This combined effort will enable to identify, for instance, the dwarf bat, about 90 nocturnal and diurnal birds, including robins, tits, blackcaps, warblers and the Eurasian wren which wander around on the sequoias, araucarias, magnolias, and cedars among other.

There will be educational and scientific workshops, field trips with CIBIO-InBIO researchers, and the show "Água" [Water], which is the responsibility of Circolando - Cultural Cooperative.

Participation is free, upon prior registration, subject to room capacity.
